It is widely recognized that a firewall is an important tool for network security. And we all seem to know what a firewall is, but most of us don’t really know how strong one is. All devices connected to the network are exposed to some kind of malware or hacker attack. While your PCs and laptops already have firewalls built in, many of your other devices don’t. Since a router works as a bridge between your home network and the internet, a router with a strong firewall is crucial.

A basic NAT firewall alone is not enough for today’s various hacker attacks and malware. Generally, a router is also equipped with a firewall feature that provides more sophisticated protection. An SPI firewall is one such feature.

An SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall is a dynamic firewall that scrutinizes data packets from the start of communication till the end. It blocks data from untrusted source and protects your devices from vulnerabilities.

What kind of data does it deem untrustworthy? An SPI firewall follows a preset security policy. Data that do not match the policy is dropped. It also learns from previous connections. Traffic types that once caused damage is simply blocked in the future without needing to examine the packet in greater detail.

Equally important as an SPI firewall is the handling of Pings. A hacker may repeatedly send a flood of ping packets to your device, which may consume so much server resource that your device cannot respond to legitimate data packets. In such a situation, you can disable the Pings function

Distribution of incoming network traffic across all your devices, efficiently is known as Load balancing.  The load-balancer acts as a savior, and is responsible to work as a “traffic cop”. The load-balancer will be redirecting the traffic across all the devices in an equal manner. Load-balance will make sure that maximum speed could be attained along with capital utilization and makes sure your performance is not degraded.

The router will allow you to take multiple broadband connections into a single channel, such as DSL (digital subscriber loop) connection, cable, modem or any other such wireless connections. You can plug all the devices into this router and the device will figure out how to separate the traffic and load-balance across all the connection. So your network basically will have an individual IP address across all your devices. It may consist of several different broadband connections that can be attached to Load balance router. This device will help manage different high-speed internet connection that a user have into a single channel thus will help to download and upload in a better manner. In simple sense it will supports multiple internet connections and use that into loading balance during uploading or downloading.

VLAN is a custom network which is created from one or more local area networks. It enables a group of devices available in multiple networks to be combined into one logical network. The result becomes a virtual LAN that is administered like a physical LAN. The full form of VLAN is defined as Virtual Local Area Network.

Without VLANs, a broadcast sent from a host can easily reach all network devices. Each and every device will process broadcast received frames. It can increase the CPU overhead on each device and reduce the overall network security.

In case if you place interfaces on both switches into separate VLAN, a broadcast from host A can reach only devices available inside the same VLAN. Hosts of VLANs will not even be aware that the communication took place.

VLAN in networking is a virtual extension of LAN. A LAN is a group of computer and peripheral devices which are connected in a limited area such as school, laboratory, home, and office building. It is a widely useful network for sharing resources like files, printers, games, and other applications.

LTE Internet backup solutions—often referred to as internet failover solutions or just internet backup—are dedicated failover services that guarantee you stay connected to the internet in the event of a lapse in coverage. Basically, you can count LTE internet backup solutions as a type of comprehensive failsafe that keeps your small business connected when it needs it most.

Even if you have a reliable, comprehensive internet connection that never goes out, investing in LTE backup is a compelling plan B because it ensures that no matter what happens—beyond your control or even your service providers—you and your critical devices are going to be connected at all times.

From power outages to construction issues to natural disasters, we live in a relatively unpredictable world, and even when things go right 9 times out of 10, it always pays to have a plan B that keeps your small business up and running for that unlikely and unpredictable time that might strike.
